Hi, I’m Dr. Argyrios Koumtzis: the physicist, the accessibility advocate, the occasional chaos magnet, and one of only a few blind astrophysics PhDs in the world.
Today I work in data science, build accessible apps, and write stories about the unexpected moments that come with navigating life using audio as a blind person in a very visual world.

Because the number of blind people studying STEM subjects is embarrassingly low for a world that pretends to care about accessibility.
Because I want to live in a world where people do not just survive their blindness. Because I want to live in a world where people are able to thrive.
I hope audiothrive becomes a platform that lets me share the experiences that helped me throughout my journey and gives me the opportunity to use my technical skills to create accessibility solutions that are not just accessible, but fucking awesome.
A Little More About Me
- Born in Greece
- Studied physics in Greece and completed my PhD in astrophysics at the Max Planck Institute for Solar System Research
- Currently living in Berlin and working at Deutsche Bank, focusing on data science models that detect financial crime
- Always reading books, playing music and chess, working out and much more that you will discover later
